Its expression is down-regulated in these tumors as compared to control brain tissues. In addition, it might also inhibit NODAL and BMP signaling during neural patterning. There are 2 isoforms produced by alternative splicing. Function: May inhibit NODAL and BMP signaling during neural patterning (By similarity). May be a tumor suppressor in brain cancers. Subunit: May interact with ST14. Subcellular Location: Isoform 1: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Isoform 2: Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Isoform 3: Secreted. Tissue Specificity: Highly expressed in ***** and fetal brain, spinal cord and prostate.
