It contains three His containing consensus motifs that are characteristic of a group of membrane fatty acid desaturases. It has sphingolipid-delta-4-desaturase activity and converts D-erythro-sphinganine to D-erythro-sphingosine (E-sphing-4-enine). Function: Has sphingolipid-delta-4-desaturase activity. Converts D-erythro-sphinganine to退行性精母细胞同源物1抗体 D-erythro-sphingosine (E-sphing-4-enine). Subcellular Location: Mitochondrion. Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Tissue Specificity: Ubiquitous. Post-translational modifications: Myristoylation can target the enzyme to the退行性精母细胞同源物1抗体 mitochondria leading to an increase in ceramide levels.
