Its highest expression is found in the small intestine and peripheral blood cells. It is induced by interferon gamma, mitogens and interleukin 1 and belongs to the intercrine beta (chemokine CC) family. Function: Monokine with inflammatory, pyrogenic and chemokinetic properties.
